1) How old does a vehicle have to be to import?
They must be 15 (or more) years old down to the month of manufacture. Meaning if it is July 2017, the vehicle must have a manufacture date of July 2002 or older. NO EXCEPTIONS.
2) How long does it take to receive my car?
From the time that we win a car in auction, it’s on average 6-8 weeks to arrive in Vancouver. This all depends on shipping times out of Japan, as RO/RO (Roll on, Roll off) cargo ships do not leave Japan for Vancouver every day. It is common for vehicles to arrive sooner than this as well.
3) Is every car from Japan Right Hand Drive?
Most of them are, but definitely not all of them. Luxury brands such as Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Bentley, etc are left hand drive.
4) Why import when I can just buy local?
The cars in Japan are in much better condition, with much lower mileage than local Canadian cars that have faced harsh Canadian winters for the last 15 years. On top of that, importing is much cheaper than buying a local vehicle as well.
5) Can I import a _______ ?
As long as it is 15 years old, we can import it for you. There are absolutely no other restrictions on what can be brought over aside from being 15 years old.
6) What are the costs involved with importing a car from Japan?
All in all, it’s roughly $3500 Cad ontop of the cost of the vehicle itself to get it here from Japan, not including the customs fees. Keep in mind we take care of all of this as part of our service, so all you have to mention is your final end budget, we do the rest for you. Here is the breakdown
$1000 – Export costs out of Japan, this includes transport in Japan from the auction house to the port, Export company’s fee, Radiation check, Japanese customs fees and export paperwork
$1500 – Actual shipping cost from Japan to the port in Vancouver. This can vary slightly depending on the size and weight of the vehicle.
$1000 – Our service fee that you paid in the form of a deposit at the beginning of this process.
